Following advice from the City of Subiaco, we are pleased to announce that from Friday 29 April masks will no longer be required to be worn inside the Community Centre.
The workshop was very successful and gave everyone a taste of what is required for a public performance. It is a showcase for individual choir members and small groups to show their talent, combinining performances of several numbers by Voiceworks and by VoiceworksPLUS, including performances by a duo and several soloists. Constructive feedback was provided by a panel of professional musicians. VEV end of term one workshop performance - 13th April 2022

Perth's fine warm weather over the first seven weeks of term has been ideal for singing in the open air, minimizing the risk of Covid transmission by allowing wide spacing in a circle with or without masks.

On Friday night 4th March 2022, VEV Executive Director Maggie Wilde West was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame. 
The ceremony was held at Government House Ballroom. Maggie was honored and inducted for her lifetime’s work in the Arts especially her work with community choir and in particular her work with the establishment and running of Voiceworks Plus, our inclusive performance ensemble for the disabled.

On Friday night 4th March 2022, VEV Executive Director Maggie Wilde West was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held at Government House Ballroom. With the rapid spread of the Omicron Covid variant in Perth, we have been very aware of the need for excellent ventilation and the inherent risks of transmission from singing inside. VEV rehearsals for the past four weeks have been held very successfully outside in the courtyard adjacent to the Shenton park Community centre, thanks to ideal fine summer weather and the use of temporary LED work lights so members can read musical scores! The three performances on Friday 3 Dec and Saturday 4 Dec were sold out to very appreciative audiences. VEV performers, dressed in red and blue as super-heroes, re-created heroes such as Spiderman and dastardly villains such as the demon barber Sweeney Todd, and Mack the knife. Disney heroes were ignored, but the choir was on song for five Disney villains.

VoiceworksPLUS, accompanied by entertainer Robert Graham on keyboard and director Maggie Wilde-West, sang and performed a range of Christmas numbers to a very appreciative audience of about 300 comfortably spread out on the grass.
